Education: Alan completed his B.S. at Southeastern University in
Lakeland, Florida in 2002. Alan then pursued his M.A. in Counseling at Gordon-Conwell
Theological Seminary and was inducted in the Psi Chi National Honor Society. He
is currently a Licensed Mental Health Counselor for the State of Florida.
 Experience: As a counselor, Alan works primarily with children and
adolescents from the ages of 5 years and up. He also works with the parents of
children younger than 5 years old.
- Alan has counseled homeless clients
at Lighthouse Ministries in individual and group sessions and assisted them
in dealing with substance abuse, mental and physical illness, poverty,
unemployment, and/or spiritual issues.
- He gave play therapy to children
and adolescents with specialized needs, specifically oppositional defiant
children.
- Alan co-directed a Department of
Juvenile Justice diversion substance abuse program and piloted an
anger
management group for adolescents.
- Alan conducted professional
counseling, consultation, and crisis-intervention services directly as a
part of the Wycliffe counseling team.
 Community Involvement: Alan is passionately involved in community
affairs as he believes people long to connect and contribute. Alan worked in a
medical clinic for one year in the inner city of Lakeland, FL., assisting in
pharmaceutical and basic medical duties to improve the health of those who could
not afford medical care. He taught English to literacy workers, assisted in a
medical clinic, and performed basic administrative tasks for three months while
in Central African Republic.
Personal:
Alan and his wife Tywonn, who is a Registered Nurse, hope to someday travel to
Africa and provide counseling and nursing services to those less fortunate.
