PATRICIA’S FOCUS AREAS
Women’s Issues – Women are challenged with the underlying, yet overwhelming daunting feelings comprised in the gloom of the “comparison trap”. The lures of social media invite women to look like, be like, dress like and appear like “someone else.” This not only puts women in a chaotic spiral, but also causes her self-esteem to plummet as well. These challenges are common everyday emotional hooks that can be avoided through the mirror of self-love, self-care and self-appreciation. A woman who embraces her identity can scale the negative wall of comparison and low self-esteem. As a TLC Therapist I can help you navigate these very present obstacles.
Low Self-Esteem
Couples Therapy (Traditional) can bring about harmony in the relationship as they learn about effective communication skills, conflict resolution, financial management, intimacy in and out of the bedroom, goal setting, and family planning. Once the “newness” of a relationship has declined couples start to see the rough edges of their mate from their own perspective and judgement. Couples counseling opens up a broader, healthier perspective of how to manage and embrace the differences one another brings to the relationship. As a certified Prepare Enrich Facilitator, I provide an assessment that allows couples to see where they positively agree and areas where they can improve. The Prepare Enrich Assessment provides an open, honest view of how couples can improve and enhance their relationship in every area.
Anxiety can cause one to ruminate extensively over what they think could go wrong. Fear is interwoven into anxiety in that one might fear the worst, thus their anxiety level heightens. Fear in and of itself, is usually attached to danger in some way. It is there to protect us and alert us to action. Anxiety can be triggered by stress, trauma, and life events. Being able to manage our stress and logically sort through our thoughts will help to reduce the anxiety that often feels overwhelming.
Depression – Through cognitive behavioral therapy we can address this mood disorder by considering lifestyle adjustments, thought reframing, and addressing unhealthy behavior patterns that hinder well-being. Psychotherapy can equip individuals with new skillsets so they can cope with life’s challenges.
Codependency – Some women find themselves in the throes of codependency (Co-D), always making sure others are happy, comfortable, taken care of, and at the top of the priority list. Women who fall in the category of being Co-D are simply seeking to be affirmed, appreciated, and recognized through their undying savior mentality and outward remarkable “to the rescue” acts. The mere thought of considering their own needs before others does not enter into the mind of a codependent woman until she is completely burnt out. I will assist you with the tools for saying “no” to everyone else and saying “yes” to yourself. Learning the difference between a healthy “yes” and “no” is key to becoming and “undependent” woman.
Bipolar Disorder through psychotherapy a therapist can assist the individual with this disorder in understanding how they can effectively manage it through cognitive behavior therapy, medications, lifestyle changes, self-care and outside support. Individuals with this disorder can live a very normal life as they implement the strategies and tools necessary.
