Bio
Julissa Gonzalez is a Clinical Mental Health Counseling graduate student with a passion for helping individuals feel seen, supported, and empowered through life’s challenges. Her desire to serve others has been shaped through her faith, personal experiences, and years of working in client-centered and supportive roles.
Julissa is especially passionate about working with adolescents, young adults, and individuals struggling with anxiety, stress, life transitions, self-esteem concerns, and emotional troubles. She believes counseling should be a safe and collaborative space where clients feel genuinely heard while working toward meaningful growth and healing.
Background
Born and raised in Florida, Julissa developed a heart for helping others from a young age through her faith, family values, and natural desire to connect deeply with people. She values kindness, empathy, and creating environments where individuals feel comfortable being themselves without fear of judgment.
Julissa is currently pursuing her Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Palm Beach Atlantic University. Throughout her graduate program, she has continued developing her counseling skills and client support roles.
Professionally, Julissa has experience working in fast-paced environments that require compassion, organization, communication, and emotional sensitivity. Her background includes supporting clients through vulnerable situations, coordinating care and communication, assisting with intake processes, and helping individuals feel informed and supported during stressful moments.
Outside of counseling, Julissa enjoys staying active, spending time outdoors, trying new experiences, and finding opportunities to give back and support her community. She values meaningful connection, personal growth, and bringing kindness and encouragement into the spaces around her.
Personal
Julissa believes that empathy and authenticity are at the heart of effective counseling. She understands that every person’s story, experiences, and struggles are unique, which is why she values creating individualized approaches tailored to each client’s specific needs and goals.
Her counseling style is warm, collaborative, encouraging, and practical. Julissa values building strong therapeutic relationships grounded in trust, compassion, and open communication. She believes clients deserve both emotional support and practical tools that help them create lasting change in their daily lives.
Julissa is especially drawn to Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, and person-centered approaches. She enjoys helping clients identify patterns in their thoughts and behaviors while also recognizing their strengths, resilience, and ability to grow through difficult seasons.
She hopes to create an environment where clients feel safe to process challenges, develop confidence, and move toward healing with support and encouragement along the way.
