Dawns’s Bio

Background

Dawn is married for over 29 years with 4 young adult sons, and a beautiful daughter-in-law and new grandmother. Dawn grew up in the suburbs of Chicago and attended college in Winona, Minnesota.  During that time, she committed to a degree in Psychology she completed it in 1990.  She then moved to the Twin Cities and completed her Master in Counseling and Psychological Services in 1995.  Soon after Dawn worked with children and adolescents in an inpatient facility in Barrington, Illinois.

As a social worker she assisted many children and adolescents with emotional and behaviors issues through counseling and interventions.  Dawn also facilitated parenting groups and family sessions.   After the arrival of Dawn’s second son, she remained at home while her family grew until 2007.  From 2007 to 2019 Dawn worked in the education field as a guidance counselor, assistant principal and principal.  Dawn completed her second Masters Degree in Educational Leadership in 2017.  She also taught General Psychology at Valencia College and was a program director and provided career counseling while at Keiser University.

Dawn has a strong understanding of the field of education as a past administrator and teacher.  She is well versed in IEP’s (Individual Education Plans) and 504 plans.  Due to her background, Dawn is able to relate to current issues and concerns facing parents with children and adolescents today.

Personal Approach

Dawn meets everyone where they are at in their journey! She takes an active role in their life.  She is known for building a solid rapport with all ages, from children and adolescents, to young and older adults.  She is a compassionate counselor with strong communication and active listening skills. Her goal is to assist her clients in meeting their goals and have them moving forward with tools for their future.
