Personal:
Debbie Haughton has counseled clients ranging in age from young adolescents to mature baby boomers and from many different walks of life. Her ability to relate well to the wide range of individuals comes from her caring and compassionate personality, her true desire to help others, her 20+ years as a parent and wife and the variety of professional endeavors she has pursued. Throughout her career, she has worked in sales, television broadcasting, advocacy for the handicapped, advertising, teaching children’s music performance, music and event production and counseling.

Experience:
Addictions Counselor - As a staff member at the Grove Counseling Center in Winter Springs, Florida, she counseled adolescents suffering from addictions, gender identity issues and matters related parent / child relationships, absentee parents, substance abuse and sexual orientation.
Mental Health Counselor - Debbie later transitioned to a private counseling practice in Casselberry, Florida where she focused her counseling on clients suffering from mental health disorders and relationship issues; particularly co-dependency, ADHD, dating challenges, grief, depression and anxiety and low self-esteem.
Career Coach and Vocational Counselor - Debbie was also responsible for launching the career counseling program at Palm Beach Atlantic University’s Orlando campus. As a career counselor, she has worked extensively with young and middle aged adults exploring career paths that will meet their long-term goals and aspirations, while aligning well with their skills, talents, personality and strengths. She also works with VA clients with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and physical disabilities to help them reenter the workplace and find a new career path more suited towards their disabilities.
Church Counseling - Debbie has also established a counseling program through her church, Christ Kingdom Church (PCA). Through this practice, she focuses on clients with marriage issues, teenagers experiencing anxiety, depression, self-esteem challenges, cutting and identity confusion. She especially enjoys working with people who are single, dating and/or facing relationship difficulties. Debbie also is working with ministry professionals who are struggling in their profession.

Education:
Debbie received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications with a Minor in Music from Florida State University. She earned her Masters Degree in Counseling Psychology from Palm Beach Atlantic University and now combines her communications and business skills with her counseling abilities to help people find a better life.

Special Interests:
As a trained musician and vocalist, Debbie particularly enjoys singing and playing keyboards with her church worship band. She is exploring opportunities to combine her love for music and counseling to benefit children and adolescents seeking outlets for creative expression. In addition to music, Debbie is also passionate about project management and leadership. In her spare time, she works with the Digital Media Alliance of Florida helping to promote this new and growing industry by planning and organizing events, develop leadership roles and drive the organization’s business agenda. She is active in a local USTA tennis league, loves to travel and enjoys adventurous outdoor activities.
